3 original illustrations by illustrator Dora Royle.
Undated but presumed to be 1930’s or 40’s.
The first shows a nativity scene. Beautifully painted using gouache. The pencilled annotation reads ‘ Line drawing of this sold to N. F.’ The whole, with white surround, measures 19 x 27.5 cms or 7.4 x 10.6 inches. Condition: Very Good. The corners are a little soft and the white surround is slightly creased and a little grubby, with two holes from pins at the top corners; but the picture itself is very clean and fresh.
The second shows Jesus Christ emerging from the tomb. Also painted using gouache it measures 24.5 x 19.5 cms or 9.5 x 7.5 inches. The writing at the base reads ‘Easter. Used for Universal’. Condition: Very Good. The surround is somewhat grubby and slightly damaged. The top left hand corner is creased. This affects the picture to a small degree.
The third image shows a medieval maiden fleeing from a castle. It’s drawn using black ink and measures 25.5 x 21 cms or 10 x 8.3 inches. Condition: Very Good. The surround is slightly grubby and the corners of the card are soft but the picture itself is clean.
