A Collection of 18 Original Antique Prints From The Atlas of Anatomy by Mrs Fenwick Miller. Rare items. Dated 1888. Large: 64 x 40 cms.
A collection of 18 prints fromThe Atlas of Anatomy or Pictures of The Human Body by Mrs Fenwick Miller.
A rare book. Published by Edward Stanford in 1888.
The plates fold out. 14 are in two parts measuring 32.5 x 42 cms*. 4 are in 4 parts measuring 64 x 40 cms.
Subjects include: The human skull and the skull and skeleton of an ape.
Also heart, lungs, head, eye, musculature, human skeleton, hand etc.
Condition: Very Good. Two of the larger images have been annotated by ink pen. That of the human skeleton has some notes written about the head; and that which shows the lungs has notes written on the reverse side of one portion that bleed through slightly such that they show on the front. Repairs have been made to all the prints using archival tape; this primarily to strengthen fragile seams; but there are longer closed tears on the larger pieces which are neatly fixed. The torn paper to the left of the larger images shows the point where they were removed from the book. The plates remain surprisingly fresh, the colours are bright. Though they are slightly tanned and occasionally marked or creased none of these flaws are particularly significant.
Lovely large images. Ideal for framing.
Please ask if you would like to see the remainder of the images or more detail.
*One of the images of skulls is slightly narrower since it was slightly damaged at the hinge and so suffered some loss.
