A Generous Quantity of Antique French Papers, Cards and Engravings. 1800’s and 1900’s. For collage and decorative purposes.
A quantity of antique French legal documents, bills of sale and other printed items. Also a black and white engraving of a plant, a hand painted coloured engraving of birds, a Victorian scrap, a hand painted and stitched Georgian greeting card, an antique menu, a booklet about plants, a page from a children’s book and a carte de visite for use in collage and for other decorative purposes. Some items British, others French.
Most of the papers date from the 1800’s. One dates back as far as 1786. The largest piece measures 32 X 22 cms. There are at least 13 documents in the bundle that are more than a single sheet of paper - one being 12 pages long; but most are between 4 to 8 pages. Also 10 single pages with writing on both sides, plus scraps. Also the engravings, the booklet and 8 other items. The papers are hand made and all different. Some are bills of sale. I have tried to include a variety of colours and textures to provide interest.
Condition: Very Good. As I hope you can see from the pictures the papers are marked stained, creased, folded and torn as is to be expected given their age. The booklet about flowers is broken at the hinge. The very ancient document marked 1786 has had a piece of script cut from it. One documents has significant damage along the top edge.
The whole bundle weighs 402 grams.
