An original sanguine drawing of two young women.
Probably a study from a painting in the Renaissance style .
Size of the drawing within the black surround: 52.5 x 38.5 cms or 20 1/2 x 18 1/4 inches.
The drawing has been pasted onto a grey cardboard surround. On the reverse side the words ‘Dessin de Mlle (and a name I cannot make out); the suggestion being that it is she who drew the picture. There is a stamp at the bottom left hand corner of the image. Again hard to read, but I believe the writing is in French.
Condition: Very Good. The drawing is generally marked by small dark stains; these most noticably at the base of the image and on the face of the girl to the right. There is a small tear on the paper above her headdress. .
A skilfully drawn study. Ideal for framing.
