A Visit To The Castle of Glass. An 8 Page Advertising Booklet From Steamdale Laundries Limited. Illustrated by Wilcox-Halstead. 1920’s.
An 8 page booklet given as a a gift from The Steamdale Laundries Ltd, Acton, London.
With illustrations by Wilcox-Halstead.
Undated but the style would suggest 1920’s or 30’s.
The story is called ‘The Home of The Soap Bubble Fairies’. It tells of the discovery by a young girl that it is actually the soap bubble fairies who, by their magic, clean her mother’s laundry. The pictures are particularly charming, with the bubbles and some of the background picked out in gold.
Size: 25 x 19 cms.
Condition: Very Good. The cover is a little worn and marked with fading at the top of front and back. The corners and edges are a little worn. The contents are clean and fresh. The name of a child has been written in the box on the front cover. It’s been erased but still shows faintly.
A rare item. I can find no other for sale or any mention of the illustrator.
