An examination piece, a croquis en colour (a coloured sketch) for dessin composition (drawing composition).
Dated January 1942. Paris was occupied by German forces at the time.
The painting shows an oil can hanging from a post and a flower pot shown from different angles. It is described as a study of different aspects of the cone shape. The school for boys and young men where the piece was created was situated at 315 Rue de Charenton, Ville de Paris.
The artwork seems to be to be drawn in pencil and painted using poster paint.
Size: 27 x 21 cms.
Condition: Very Good. The paper is very fine, it has been folded into quarters. It is lightly tanned and a little creased but otherwise clean. There is writing in ink on the reverse side that shows through in places.
