An original artwork from a drawing class at a Parisian Art School.
An examination piece, a croquis en colour (a coloured sketch) for dessin a vue et dessin geometric (sight drawing and geometric drawing).
Dated 16th March 1942. Paris was occupied by German forces at that time.
The painting shows a craftman’s tools above a technical design design. The school for boys and young men where the piece was created was situated in the Ville de Paris.
The artwork seems to be to be drawn in pencil, and painted using watercolour and gouache.
Size: 27 x 21 cms.
Condition: Very Good. The paper is very fine, it has been folded into quarters’. It is lightly tanned and a little creased but otherwise clean. There is writing in ink on the reverse side that shows though faintly.
