An original artwork from a drawing class at a Parisian Art School.
An examination piece, a croquis en colour (a coloured sketch) for dessin a vue et de memoire (sight drawing and drawing from memory).
Dated December 1941. Paris was occupied by German forces at that time.
The painting shows a sportsman’s equipment. The writing beneath reads ‘Memory: the same objects in different positions’. The school for boys and young men where the piece was created was situated at 11 Rue d’Argenteuil, Ville de Paris.
The artwork seems to be to be drawn using ink and is painted using watercolour.
Size: 27 x 21 cms.
Condition: Very Good. The paper is very fine, it has been folded in half. It is lightly tanned and a little creased. There is a mark on the left hand side but it is otherwise clean. There is writing in ink on the reverse side.
