An engraving entitled The Father of The Bride Settles Her Dowry.
The writing beneath the image reads ‘Le Pere de la finacée reglant sa dot d’aprés le tableau de Rembrandt tirè du Cabinet de Monsieur le Comte de Kameke’. ’ which translates as ‘The Father of the bride settles her dowry, after the painting taken from the cabinet of Monsieur the Count of Kameke’.
Engraved by George Friedrich Schmidt in 1770.
Enscribed in the lower left hand corner ‘Rembrandt Pinx 1641’
Size: 22.2 x 27 cms or 8 x 10 5/8 inches.
Condition: Very Good. The engraving has browned and foxed. There is a significant area of browning at the bottom right hand corner. The rear is also browned.
