Croquis De Campagne by Bernard Naudin.
Sketches from the Campaign.
Reproduced by Bernard Marotte and published by R. Helleu in 1915, that is during The First World War.
With folders in the French language detailing the contents.
Pale blue folios that close with string ties contain the reproductions of 32 pencil sketches drawn in the main on the battlefield at Aisne; though there are also pictures of children, a priest, of a graveyard etc. The folios measure 31.5 x 26 cms or 10 x 12 1/2 inches. The drawings are reproduced on deckle edged arches paper and so have a very authentic appearance. They were drawn in the trenches and reproduced on paper that corresponds to the originals so the sizes vary and some are unevenly shaped. Each has a number discreetly stamped o one corner.
The folios are numbers 426 of an output that was limited to 540. The number is written in ink and signed, or initialed, by the artist on two content pages. One folder contains details of the work. Also four advertisements for this and other productions by the same publisher.
Condition of cover and contents: Very Good and Fine. Both covers are slightly browned and marked. The paper along the spine of both has cracked. There is some browning and a small amount of foxing within; but this does not affect the drawings themselves which are, but for occasional marks fresh and clean.
