Delft Faïence.
A flat earthenware plate.
A copy of a pencil drawing.
A chromolithogaph from La Faïence Populaire au XVIIIme Siecle by Mareschal. This book describes the shapes, usage, decoration, colour and marks of this kind of ceramic.
Published in Paris in 1872.
Size: 26.7 x 17.2 cms or 6 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches.
The author decribes the scene depicted on the dish as a green junk drawn in a naive style. Above it red birds, and higher still a river bank, are depicted in similar fashion. The surrounding border is the same as that for plate 98.
Condition: Very Good. The white part of the print’s surface is faintly foxed and browned at the edges. There are a few other surface marks but none of significance.
A lovely copy of a pencil drawing. Ideal for framing perhaps in combination with others.
