A chromolithogaph from La Faïence Populaire au XVIIIme Siecle by Mareschal. This book described the shapes, usage, decoration, colour and marks of this kind of earthenware.

Size: 26.7 x 17.2 cms or 6 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches.
In the author’s opinion this eggcup, being of simple form and well seated, fulfills the conditions necessary for its employment. The decoration deviates from that of Rouen earthenware, being more like Sinceny; this on account of its decorator. The mark D must be the initial of the decorator.
Condition: Very Good. The white part of the print’s surface has browned at the edges; this most particularly along the right hand edge that is slightly damaged. There is light foxing on the white surface; also a faint blue mark.
A lovely piece for framing perhaps in combination with others.
