An original engraving by Charles S. Klabunde. (1935 - 2024).
Signed and dated 1974
Number 37 of 60 produced.
Size: 70 x 49.5 cms or 27 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches.
The work of American artist Charles S. Klabunde has been described as both fantastical symbolism and existential realism. He was a master printmaker and painter. His prints were made using four-colour, hand engraved copper plates that produced contours and colours that had an antique appearance. He mixed his own ink and hand-pulled each print using a custom-made English press. He was known for his colour sense and story telling bias. He was honoured with a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1971.
Condition: Very Good. There are pinkish marks on the left hand side of the print and surround that might have been caused by damp. There are a few other marks in the surround; also some very slight surface damage to the surface and edges of the paper. The image is otherwise fresh.
