Each sheet shows four tones of a given colour. It then details the origin of the colour’s name, gives synonyms for the the name of the colour in French and other languages and makes remarks on the tone of certain samples. This might be, amongst other things, a comment of the chemical composition, the use of a colour in a well known painting, or the prevalence of a colour in a plant.
Each plate measures 24 x 16 cms or 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.
Condition: Very Good. There is some slight loss to the corners and edges of the plates and some superficial creasing. There is a small, dark dot the surface of Jaune Indian. The plates are otherwise clean.
