3 original copperplate engravings showing micoscopic images of insects, parts of insects and other tiny things.

From a very early edition of The Encycopedia Britannica.

Date: 1797.

Engraved by A. Bell (1726-1809)

Black and white.

Size: 26.5 x 20.5 cms or 10 1/2 x 8 inches.

Condition: Very Good. There are a few minute spots of faint foxing, or blackish matter, across the surface of the plates. The left hand edge of each, at the point where the plate has been removed from the encyclopedia, has browned. Plate CCCII has been annotated using sepia coloured ink; this about fig no. 36 and 38. The plates are otherwise clean and remarkably fresh.
