The text and plates have been stitched together at some point in the distant past. It is not clear whether plates have been removed or whether the whole was made up as such in the first place. In my opinion there is no evidence of removal of plates. The original work shows statues and plants, has an accompanying map and has a decorative frontispiece. This to be clear has only the plates showing statues.
Condition: Very Good. The cover is marked and damaged possibly by mice that have nibbled at the vellum spine. The stitching within is loose a the beginning of the book in consequence of this. The pages within, but for be occasional foxing and browning at the edges, are remarkably fresh and clean. Some of the plates have less definition than others.
