There are more than 10,000 kinds of polychaete or marine worm known to exist. Most have numerous bristles along parapodia or segmentally arranged side flaps. They live deep in oceans, on mud flats, in rock pools, on the surface of the sea and in the sand. Common names include bristleworm, lugworm, feather duster worm, leech and sea mouse.
