Pseudo Brasilianum racemosum. Plum. Faux Bois de Bresil à fruits en grapes.
An original hand coloured copper plate engraving on laid paper.
There is no number on the plate but it is known to be number 179.
From the Histoire Universelle du Regne Vegetal by Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1774-1780)
Printed between 1774 and 1780.
Size: 47.5 x 29 cms or 18 3/4 x 11 1/2 inches.
Pierre Joseph Buchoz (1731-1807) was a French physician, lawyer and passionate naturalist. He produced some of the finest illustrated works on natural history of the period.
Condition: Very Good. The plate, but for a few marks that have to do with age and a few dark spots of ink across the surface, is clean. There are two strips of paper fixed to the reverse side that, as far as I can tell, serve no purpose.
