The Doll in Dimity.
A miniature book in a slipcase.
Published by Hodder and Stoughton.
Not date is given but it’s known to be produced around 1910.
Size: 6 x 5.5 cms or 2 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches.
Pink paper boards and slipcase both with a pastedown image of a little girl with a muff on the front. Decorative endpapers. There’s a second coloured illustration opposite the frontispiece. The green script is decorated with two very small images.
There’s a lot of story in this tiny book. The plot is based around Mabel’s failure to look after her dolls sufficiently well and Dimity’s actions to reform her character.
Condition: Very Good. The book itself is in reasonably good shape. The spine is a little broken and there’s a dark mark on the cover. The thread holding the book together is still in place. The pages within are fresh and clean. The book does not appear to have been read. The paper that covers the slipcase has darkened whilst it’s pastedown has faded. There is crack at the bottom that has been repaired and the edges are slightly worn; but it remains complete and holds together well.
