A presumed First Edition.
Page number: 59 with several blank pages at the rear upon which presumably one writes notes.
Hardcover. Red paper boards embossed with gilt decoration. Red velvet spine. Gilt edges to the pages. The contents are divided into three sections. First an introduction. Then part one: this being a list of flowers and their associated meanings. Then part two; , this being first the meanings, then the flowers that are associated with them. The pages are bordered by varied floral patterns; black on a white ground. Four hand coloured copper plate engravings decorate the text.
Condition: Very good. The boards are slightly worn. The corners are a little soft. A previous owner's name is stamped onto the endpaper. The binding remains secure though there is a very slight break in the front hinge. The pages within are occasionally marked but generally clean.
