Three Antique Steel Engravings by E. Guérin. From a French Dictionary. Featuring Various Types of Spider and A Flea. Size: 29 x 18 cms.
Three hand coloured steel engravings from a French dictionary showing a waxwing, a cactus plant, a jujube tree, daffodils, a starling and the orchid bee.
From Le Dictionnaire Pittoresque d’Histoire Naturelle by Felix-Edouard Guerin-Meneville.
Published in Paris 1834-39.
The steel engravings are by E. Guérin.
Size: 29 x 18 cms or 11 3/8 x 7 inches plus an additional centimeter of paper on one side of the images that I have left in place since it might be useful if they are to be framed.
Condition: Near Fine. There are a few marks across the surface of the prints. The edges are slightly browned with some occassional light foxing. One has a faint dark line running along the length of the left hand side. There are small holes on the edges of the plates edge where thread once passed through.
