Russian writer Samual Marshak wrote plays based on Russian fairy tales that were designed for the juvenile stage. These include Twelve Months. Written in light and witty verse it describes twelve wise rulers of nature and two girls whom they help or punish according to their nature. The play was awarded a Stalin Prize in 1946.
