Each sheet shows six tones of a given colour. It then details the origin of the colour’s name, gives synonyms for the the name of the colour in French and other languages and makes remarks on the tone of certain samples. This might be, amongst other things, a comment of the chemical composition, the use of a colour in a well known painting, or the prevalence of a colour in a plant.
Each plate measures 24 x 16 cms or 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches.
Condition: Very Good. There is some slight loss to the corners of the plates and some superficial creasing. There is is a faint dark spot on one of the squares of yellow on Jaune Primevère. Also a dark spot on the white surround of the same. The white surrounds are otherwise clean.
